The Essence Campaign is a special photography project by Cory Powell Photography. Our mission is to empower women through creating beautiful portraits showcasing their true essence of strength and beauty while reminding them how extraordinary they are. There is nothing more beautiful and powerful than celebrating your true, authentic self. More than ever, right now the world needs us all to allow our light to shine through – that’s why I’m so passionate about this project – the Essence Campaign.

Tell us more about you!

Started from the bottom now I am here!! I struggled for a lot of years with my weight and self esteem. Up until last year I didn't really care to much about anything. I am a factory worker in the food industry so make up and nails are not permitted. I just always felt that was the plan for my life, until now.

What is your definition of beauty?

Beauty is to feel good for me. If your inside feels good then you will be radiating on the outside. And honestly... before my session I did not feel beautiful. I felt like a woman existing in a man's world.

A big part of this experience is reframing and finding what there is to celebrate in ourselves. After having this experience, what would you say makes you uniquely powerful?

The woman I am today is smart, funny and beautiful. I am powerful in every way possible!
